Fonterra Co-operative Group Ltd
Fonterra Co-operative Group is the world's largest dairy exporter. Its ingredients business spans more than 120 countries and its consumer business, Fonterra Brands, operates in around 40 countries.
Owned by some 11,000 farmer shareholders, Fonterra processes about 95% of New Zealand's milk (1,246m kgms in 2006/07), employs 16,400 staff worldwide, and had revenues in 2004/05 of $13.9 billion.
Fonterra was formed in 2001 through the merger of New Zealand's two largest dairy co-operatives with the NZ Dairy Board.

Tatua Co-operative Dairy Company Ltd
Tatua is an autonomous, independent dairy company owned entirely by about 120 farmer shareholders.
The Company was established in 1914 and is the only dairy co-operative remaining in New Zealand that has never been part of any amalgamation. This has resulted in a distinctive culture of independence and a strong sense of identity.
Tatua's factory is located at Tatuanui in the Waikato region of the North Island.

It has a history of more than 60 years of dairy production. Each year the company processes more than 350 million litres of milk, with daily milk intake reaching 2 million litres at the peak of the season.

Fonterra Brands (NZ) Ltd is a fast-moving consumer goods company wholly owned by Fonterra. It holds leadership positions in all major categories - milk, cultured foods, cheese and butter. Key brands are Anchor, Fresh 'n Fruity, Calci Yum, Mainland and Galaxy. FBNZ employs approximately 1,700 people, with major operations based at Takanini in South Auckland.

Open Country Cheese Ltd
Open Country Cheese is a newly formed public company set up following the deregulation of the NZ dairy industry in 2001.
Located at Waharoa, in the intensive dairy farming area of the Eastern Waikato, Open Country has constructed a modern flexible 20,000 tonne cheese plant that commenced production in October 2004. The plant produces quality semi-hard to hard cheeses ranging from Cheddar through to Parmesan for both the domestic and world dairy markets.
As a public company, Open Country contracts its milk supply from local farmers and does not require them to hold shares in the company.

Gisborne Milk Co-operative Ltd
Gisborne Milk is a co-operative owned by 16 dairy farmers, producing 17 million litres of milk per year. Gisborne Milk produces packaged milk, cream, fruit juices, water, cultured products and speciality milk and cream products for the food industry.
